Norm Architects is an architecture and interior design firm based in Denmark.The studio focuses on quality, detail and durability. 哥本哈根 宁静 美学

Fjord Boat House

The studio has completed the Fjord Boat House, a holiday home on the border between Denmark and Germany. The exterior building of the cottage is built on a base of original concrete, with green-growing vines and black wood cladding, effortlessly reflecting the surrounding natural environment. A handmade ceramic tile staircase leads from the main house to the terrace area and continues into the interior, becoming a beautiful, rustic and distinct spatial feature unique to the seaside house.

Organic shapes, tactile materials and handmade ceramics add softness to the space, echoing the solid wood planks of the Skandi-Japanese aesthetic and with a sense of beauty and purpose. With a direct view of the magnificent view of the sea, the sense of serenity is overwhelming. Dining table pendants and lamps are part of a recent collection by Karimoku and Kojima Shouten for The Archipelago House. Small design details inspired by a Japanese fishing port add a maritime aesthetic to the interior.

Located on Sweden's unspoiled rocky coast, Archipelago House is a modern holiday home that encompasses every aspect of family life. The timber structure blends harmoniously with its natural surroundings and draws inspiration from local architectural traditions from the boathouse on the rocky shore. The color and material scheme of the interior remains natural, with low-key high-end materials that reflect the nature of the exterior. There is not only a direct connection and transparency between interior and exterior, but also a more symbolic connection in the use of materials and colors.

Inspired by Nordic architectural traditions and a Japanese keen sense of aesthetics and craftsmanship, the project aims to have the best of both worlds. Scandinavian comfort is combined with warm textures and soft furniture while maintaining the elegance of Japanese-style decor. While both styles focus on utilitarianism, it is important to maintain a Zen-like composure in this house, where the focus is on the life lived and the surrounding natural environment.
